Sledging

The kids and I went out with friends Jo & Jeff and their son Bradley over to the BMX track in Broomfield to go sledging. It was blowing a blizzard outside, but the kids had great fun sledging down the slopes. However once the fun was over, the tears came as we had to walk back home against the wind...poor Kaitlyn was not happy.

I feel I've made my snow effort now...snowman yesterday, sledging today...I'm now ready for springtime to come!

Party of Three

Poor old Kaitlyn...she turned 4 today, but the celebrations were slightly lacking. I had planned to get out yesterday to get her present...sylvannian families is the toy of choice at the moment...however due to the snow and the kids being off school I couldn't get out...and the conditions were even worse today, so she had to make do with a spare Christmas present that I had left over...just a secret diary notebook and pen. She liked it however and was pleased with her card and gift.

I made a chocolate cake for her, wrapped up a bag of sweets for pass-a-parcel, and the three of us had a party. The kids had fun and didn't really care that it was just us.

Snow School Today!

At last Herne Bay has had some real snow - about 4/5 inches, and hence the school and playgroup were closed......it's lucky schools in Russia or Canada don't close when there's a few inches of snow as it would send their economies into free fall, however England wouldn't be England if we didn't get ourselves into a panic at the first sight of the white stuff.

Despite my plans for the day of being ruined, we made the most of it and were very productive in snowman construction and snow excavation activities.

Kaitlyn wimped out before the snowman was actually finished, we shortly followed her and warmed up with hot soup.

Christmas 2009

We had a lovely family Christmas, although noticably quieter without Carly and the boys. James really loved his cuddly Narky....and Kaitlyn loved the food!

Family Reunion

The whole family from Kent travelled to Northamptonshire to attend my cousin Richard's wedding. Prior to the wedding we popped in to visit Elizabeth & Brian and grandad McKelvie and had a lovely meal together.

The wedding was lovely and the kids enjoyed playing with their second cousins, Riley and Frankie, whom they only ever see at wedding or funerals.

It was nice to see everyone, and I managed to get all the family to write messages in Carly's leaving book.

Pantomime

As the new Marlow Theatre is under construction, this year the pantomime was held in the newly erected Marlow Arena - basically a big tent. The Pantomime was Peter Pan, the kids loved it when Peter Pan came flying out from just behind them.
After the panto we went for a family meal at the Victoria hotel.
